Name: Anastasia la Roux

Age: ‘19’ -- Various reports and data obtained place her birthday in the month of Arashi, however an exact day is unknown. Ana’s age is approximate, give or take one year from documented surgeries and reports.

Species and Gender: Female Desert Cottontail Rabbit Faunus

Symbol: A six chambered cylinder with a red rose blooming from the right-most chamber, followed by a single red heart in the bottom right outside the cylinder.

Occupation: Full-time employee of ‘Buns and Roses’, interested enrollee to Beacon Academy

Appearance: From a distance, Anastasia looks very normal on the outside-- two arms and legs, long rabbit ears, and all fingers, toes, and eyes accounted for. However, her unique appearance comes to the front upon a closer view. Anastasia’s body could be considered extremely ‘doll-like’-- various grooves and markings along skin mapping out the blend of the female’s body to her mechanical prosthetics in an effort for her to live a more ‘normal’ lifestyle after the effects of a debilitating disease in her childhood. The markings of where the original body and prosthetic begin are prominent, with her original skin either grafted visibly to new structures, or blended in with vague wires traveling beneath matching skin-tone silicon covers. Limbs and portions of her body have very noticeable, ‘Figma’like detailing- joints and various connections are outlined with minuscule spacing for maneuverability and detachment, or evident grooves for the systems beneath her prosthetics to allow it fluid, ‘normal’ motion. On certain parts of her prosthetics, an etching is visible with a part label and a small, red heart when disconnected from the body.

Standing, Ana would reach 5’ 5” without those long, metallic-backed ears extended far above her. Black-tipped at the top, the grooves and metallic plating along the backside aided with the reconstruction and normal motion of her ears, grafted to the interior of her ear and blended with her hair color to her scalp. Sitting straight up and alert, Ana would reach a foot taller, making her about 6’ 5” with rabbit ears included. Due to the systems and prosthetics attached to her, Ana’s deceptive figure weighs around 280 pounds due to the internal mechanics.

Continuing down, Ana’s hair is usually layered, reaching either just past her chin or down past her shoulders. It is maroon in color and natural to her body, usually consisting of bangs to cover the top of her forehead and hide the resulting wires beneath the skin of her scalp near her ears and hairline. She has bright, eerie steel-blue eyes, consisting of a lens implant to give her pupils a normal look and help with the structuring of her eyes. It allows some HUD work of her own systems in a pinch with an orange-colored text.

From her temples, faint dark lines visibly appear just beneath the skin, disappearing into her hairline or deeper into her body. They again faintly show up around the vertebrae of her neck, along with the visible scarring of skin meeting prosthetics down her spine. Her collarbone and shoulders are the start of her arm prosthetics, serving as a detachable point for maintenance of the limb or for inspection of her internal systems. Her ribs visually press slightly along the skin of her sides, containing another grafted mixture of her former self and the prosthetic placements. Grooves run from her sternum to her navel, and along her backside the shoulder blades look surgically altered to fit with the systems of her internals. Her head and upper body have a normal range of motion as the human body, with upper arms exhibiting a 360 degree of motion along the whole arm to the fingers. The prosthetics have detailed, detachable locations at the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and finger, with visible grooves and lines at each location for the jointing involved. Her fingers especially carry a multitude of grooves much like a detailed action figure or doll hand, giving them natural-- and sometimes unnatural-- articulation of the joints.

Around her waist, small grooves travel around her waistline in a blend of flesh and silicon, the lower portion of her back housing a plated area for her lower leg systems. Her pelvis, specifically near the iliac crest, looks to have been altered like her shoulder blades, with slight scarring and wires briefly appearing before her hips. From her hips down, the sockets in place are similar to her arms. The prosthetics have a doll-like structuring with grooves, possessing full range of motion; both natural- and unnatural-looking at times, to her hip joint. Disconnections can happen at the hip, above and below the knee, at the ankle, and at various segments of the foot.

When it comes to clothes, Anastasia’s typical attire doesn’t seem to shy from hiding her prosthetic limbs or features at times. Depending on her mood, she may range from being seen in comfort clothing like tank-tops or t-shirts, or more longer sleeved preferences like a light jacket or baseball tee. Bottoms range from skirts, shorts or pants, depending on climate and comfort, with comfort clothing being her preferred style at times. Her color preferences sit with shades of red and other cousins to it like oranges and yellows. She also exhibits an interest in more eye-catching, ‘louder’ colors like neons, but may also be seen with softer tones like pastels.

Her usual attire complements the doll-like features she exhibits-- princess or bridal-like being a good term to coin her outfit. In front of her ears, Ana typically sports a three-studded hairband to keep her shoulder length hair from getting in her view. Starting from the neck, a white lace choker hugs around it with a red, heart-shaped pendant. The choker continues downward, attatched to the material of her shawl. Her shawl-like covering connects downward from the neck to her shoulders, resulting in a slight puffy, pauldron with a single metallic stud pointed out in each puff. The material hugs her arms, designed to allow her to disconnect her prosthetics if necessary, traveling down to a pair of gloves pulled over the material. The fingertips end in a red contrast with white hearts at each tip to support grip, typically adorned with a red coral bangle around each wrist for aesthetics. There is a small window opening of her chest, where the armored corset comes in contact beneath her shawl. A minute amount of skin is revealed with the hug of the white corset flowing down her sides to the dress below. A single red ribbon wraps beneath her bust, with a heart shape lock connecting it. At her backside, there are two holsters for her weapons built into the dress, both white sleeves with an embroidered version of her symbol in red with a red heart between the two. From the front of her corset, the white flow of her dress opens up in four drapes, each ending with three metallic studs and a red, lacy trim. Her symbol is etched onto each ‘petal’ of the white dress, followed with a heart in red. The petals start from a cut about three inches beneath her waistline and reach down to almost her ankle, the material structured with small dowels to prevent the material having a ‘flowing’ look for combat situations. Two holsters sit along her thighs, beneath the dress and shrouded by the curvature of the dress, but not denied accessibility through the openings provided. Along her legs, white thigh-high stockings with a red trim and garter belt cover her to her feet, with a pair of white flats. A red heart is at the tongue of each flat, along with a red sole and heel.

History: Childhood was a blur. A VHS-quality, constant state of rewind and fast-forwarding to only brief cues and visuals that had long been lost or slipped through the cracks of her own memory. It wasn’t always like this, but it was something the faunus was never able to pinpoint on her own…

Anastasia la Roux, from documented accounts, was a ward to the Vytal Alliance. A child left behind from the casualties of the Regime had brung about in the dangerous Shimmering Sands. Her parents were simply labeled as scavengers and peddlers of the outlying sands, moving goods to make ends meet, frequently uprooting and moving between both Haitan and Vacuo in their day-to-day operations. They’d never formerly elope after their time in Oasis, and Anastasia would only find out the news at the young age of three, left in the custody of the foster system that catered to children left behind from Regime activity. Their names completely eluded her, lost completely in the murky sea of paperwork and trails they’d leave behind from the frequent smuggling and peddling of wares to make ends meet previously.

Early childhood complications would only continue for her-- despite her lack of a true parental figure for her in foster care, Anastasia had shown a few issues with breathing, misdiagnosed as an asthmatic despite her few and far between complaints of ‘growing pains’ as documented by her caretakers. By the time she had been registered for kindergarten, Anastasia’s breathing and health sharply deteriorated during a recess hour, collapsing on a playground. Her memories were completely hazy, but doctor reports suggested that the utmost care and facilities were provided under government funding. Testing results initially came up negative, and it wasn’t until a procedural CT scan did they find something that had begun this blur of a childhood: tumors.

Private schooling was provided for her from then on by the coverage of wards under the Vytal Alliance, and whatever reparations paid by the governing power for the loss of her parents to the Regime covered a chunk of her stay and procedures in the coming years. It was a word she could remember from growing up-- lymphangiomatosis, a disease that threatened and plagued her development and something of a normal childhood. Tumors spread around her lymphatic system, creating cysts that lodged themselves into growth plates to curve her structures or against vital organs as she grew older. Surgeries to remove cysts began to take their toll on her body, bed ridden and weakened. More drastic measures were needed as her own body was in war with itself.

Prosthetics were the alternative explored. Over a period of time, bone and organs damaged or threatened by the various cysts would be treated by nullifying problem areas of her bone structure or lymph system. Anastasia couldn’t remember when or how her surgeries started-- some memories of her waking up to an amputated area, coming to and from various anesthetics in order for her to have a more ‘normal upbringing’ the doctors attempted to bring her in Vacuo and Haitan hospitals. What initially was proposed as procedures to remove infections and replace them with prosthetics soon became lengthy marathons in grafting the human to machine-- she personally remembers her condition was considered ‘deteriorating suddenly’, rehabilitating to new limbs, having scans to find and ward off more ‘potential infection’, eventually feeling like she was being replaced overall by the time she was a teenager. Eventually, memories of surgery had became less and less. Reports show that the nearly barbaric transfer of Faunus to a ‘doll-like prosthesis’ were successful, along with ‘responding well to rehabilitation’. By the age of 14, reports listed that her ‘motor skills were vastly improving’ and mentions of her living a ‘normal life’ were within means. Academically, her studies continued, despite students of her age attending Signal-equivalent areas to grow in areas of Battle as well. Her routine of traveling between hospitals continued, seeing various doctors for motor-skill developments and accustoming her to the maintenance of systems should something happen.

However, official medical records and reports come to an abrupt ending here. Weather reports point to sandstorm activity disrupting flight paths on a routine transfer for her rehabilitation, and medical statements kept by both parties do mention staff traveling ‘by convoy’ to avoid the systems involved. The convoy reaches it's intended destination late, but Anastasia is soon listed as ‘Missing’ along with a few team members. Hazy details follow, with little to no information of Alliance reports if they were one of many distress calls during the sandstorm activity.

Anastasia’s strongest recollections were the events that had followed in the months after. Following accounts by those documented by someone under the call-sign of ‘Ibis’, ‘Regime-like extremists’ equipped to brave the sands had compromised the convoy route, taking those deemed ‘worthy’ to their cause as prisoner. The one known as ‘Ibis’ continues to account many months of ‘Regime-like practices’ being forced upon the captives, however not being forces of The Regime itself-- The Regime is zealous in their ideals of eliminating individuality through various heinous and barbaric ways to those they capture, intending to further integrate them into their society.

Anastasia and her extensive prosthetic work being of most interest to this non-Regime faction; accounts continue to detail their ideals in ‘reformatting’ the teenager through various means, intentions to ‘repurpose’ parts of her with mechanical intentions of their own. The reports by Ibis continue to detail Anastasia as the code-name of ‘Heart’, and a correlation to ‘a similar endeavor’ with the mentioned ‘Spade’, but most lead to dead ends in the form of corrupted or encrypted data. It is soon made clear Ibis had some former tie to the ‘non-Regime’ faction, but their motives seem dubious at best in following reports.

Mentions of games and a ‘Game Master’ begin to pop up, statements that seem extremely bizarre and bordering the delusional as they delved into a shift of child-like nuances either as codewords or as first-hand accounts. The Factory makes its first mention-- a syndicate well known for the movement of goods and services across the borders of Vale and Vacuo, with hands in the The Regime’s ‘zealots’ pots and a foothold inside Vale. Ibis accounts that Anastasia was to be ‘transferred-- along with other contraband, weapons, and laborers’-- trafficking human and faunus alike, a move probably in tandem with The Regime’s interests of their cult. Personal statements discovered at the scene of the crime in Vale at the time show Ibis in contact with someone under another name, but no leads if this was another handle of Ibis or an entity themselves.

Ana remembers that night clearly-- blindfolded and led around by the man she only knew as Ibis through the docks. His contact, a female voice, with another female working in tandem in securing their payload. Hastened footsteps and panicked breath in her shrouded vision ‘for her own protection. To never come back to this area again.’ She could only assume this was Vale and The Factory itself. They continued to run on foot, the sounds of trees and brush constantly being pushed around. Voices continued to chase them deeper as branches and low hanging fauna became thicker and more frequently pressed along her body. Ibis ordered her to remain quiet at one point, murmuring discussions with his contact before the order was given: she was to follow her now in an effort to lose them, to not remove her blindfold, try to look back at him, and keep running no matter what. There were protests between Ibis and his contact, and what could only be understood by Anastasia as a ‘final exchange of services, per their contract’.

It had been two years since that night, the sounds still vivid and detailed in her mind. Crime reports from Vale investigations were long concluded that the circumstances that night ‘were of criminal nature, not Grimm related’ upon the discovery of Ibis’ body. When her blindfolds were removed, she was in the company of two others-- one female faunus with fox ears, the other a female human employed by her. For her best interests, they explained to her the motives and reasons behind Ibis and his sacrifice, and how they would ‘lay low’ for now. They would provide her as much of a normal lifestyle as they could, however it was expected for her to follow by their rules.

Two years and Anastasia finally had something normal: a home, no rehabilitation, a much more ‘normal’ life since their escape. She has since lived among the population of Vale, integrating well and blending in. Academically, she has recently passed high school competency tests with enough marks to make the grade for applying to Beacon. She works full time at ‘Buns and Roses’-- a flower shop front owned by a fox faunus, with whispers of the employee's ability to obtain non-legal grade weapons and ammunition behind the flowers sold, and the rabbit girl attire the employees wear.

Personality: Given her extensive surgeries and limited interactions with people of her age growing up, Anastasia exhibits a very childish, naive personality that is as playful and innocent as the doll-like appearance her body exhibits. Her demeanor is typically infectiously cheerful or optimistic, exhibiting the faintest of smiles or humming when at rest. Her expressions are very overdone or dramatic, having a bit of eccentricity when it comes to portraying her emotions to others through the use of facial queues and her ears. Her prosthetics also serve in some form or fashion in expressing herself and her emotion-- humorous in using things as a bad pun when it comes to ‘lending a hand’ quite literally, to moments of sudden shock and frustration causing parts to launch or bursts of excitement winding up with too much force used to open things like doors. She’s also expressed occurrences of interaction with electronic devices, either through passive disruptions of things like radios, phones, and televisions due to EMI, or having a conversation with objects (which has yet to be proven if this is just Anastasia talking to herself out loud, or if her interactions do have some kind of meaning with said objects).

Faunus heritage also has some influence on her behavioral tendencies. Anastasia has a bit of a tic with her nose, having the ability to twitch it like a rabbit tends to as a nonverbal cue to others through a ‘Bewitched’style shake or a subtle lift. Ears are a common expression device for her as well, often conveying her true feelings when it comes to her expressions- more alert styles and stiffness to signal her interest or discomfort with a situation, to floppy when either relaxing or on the sad-side of her spectrum. Her tendency to favor the heels of her feet when moving also contributes to a rather loud style of movement, often stamping feet or bouncing on her heels in periods of high emotion like excitement or frustration. Rabbits also are very fond of carrots, but Anastasia will be quick to pull a racism card-- secretly she’ll snack away on them without judgement.

Along with her child-like ways, her palate and desires of sweets and sugary foods is not only just from an increased glucose need for keeping herself and her systems powered, but also from the massive sugar tooth the child-like doll has acquired. She has a great dislike for sour flavors such as tarts or lemons, often exhibiting her distaste with facial expressions for the acidic flavors. Childishly, she shows some terrible table manners at times, often trying to speak with her mouth full.

Her naivety often leads to peculiar interactions with idioms, sometimes taking them verbatim-- ‘go fly a kite’, ‘can you give me a hand’ as some examples that have taking some explaining that they don’t often mean to do the action they are expressing. Whether or not she shows an understanding of idioms is up in the air, often thought she chooses to follow them as dictated out of humor than out of being airheaded.

When on the subject of a family, or talking about the past, the surgeries and ‘reformatting’ (as she explains it) done has left her with a terrible mess of trying to find her thoughts again. Her current living situation often leaves her with conflicting statements about her caretakers; she realizes she does or did have parents, but the person that has been her caretaker is not her mother, despite sometimes showing family-like tendencies with her caretakers.

Anastasia also seems to lean more toward ‘good’ than ‘evil’-- especially with how her work operates and how she interacts with the jobs at hand. Stuck in a gray area herself, she gravitates more toward ‘right’ choices than ‘wrong. She often exhibits regrets for stealing or taking things, sometimes unable to wrap her head around the thoughts and ideals required to be in the field her caretakers are in and perform such actions. She has a more ‘just’ or ‘good-natured’ process that often conflict with the goals and processes some more ‘wrong-choice’ oriented people in her field take, ending in abstract compromises or a separation of ideals toward a goal.

Aura and Semblance: Anastasia’s aura interaction has been severely dampened and inhibited by the systems and devices placed inside her body and forced to coexist with. It is believed the introduction of her physical being to the cybernetic shell she lives with today have caused a negative interaction to her ability to use her natural semblance of expelling a copy of herself as a distraction.

A nearly translucent pink in color when active, Anastasia’s semblance is a physical property interaction, having the ability to either reach out from her body as a single arm or leg to grab or punch/kick something, using the intended limb in close quarters. In order to expel her attacks at a longer distance, her semblance takes the form of an everyday object, no bigger than the size of a beachball, to be tossed or hurled at a target. It dissipates on first contact of an object, either of physical or Dust property, and range is limited to the physical distance Anastasia can throw something. It may be altered to gain the properties of Dust used when a Foci is present as a catalyst.

Combat Behavior: Not one to get her hands dirty herself, Anastasia is a long-range preferring, caster-style Dust bunny when it comes to facing her opposition. Her role would be typically seen as a support, using her weapons in an unorthodox style of various twirls, tosses, and shifts to combine one of four elements for her intended effects of either disabling an opponent through terrain hazards, or keeping them at bay with projectiles of Dust effects.

Characteristically, Anastasia uses her outwardly innocent look to her advantage in times of battle. Her attire supports the ability to field four of her revolvers, two hidden by her dress by the holsters at her thighs, and another two along her back by the waist, usually covered by a flap of cloth embroidered with her symbol. The long front of her dress also allows some capability of hiding things for her to free with a brush of her foot, like an impromptu flashbang or smoke grenade in a pinch to kick from an out of view area at her feet.

However, without the looks to aid her, the faunus is not a bad shot, just a bit too playful with her intentions when it comes to firing weapons. Anastasia’s preferred method of using Dust and Foci for her spells comes in the form of four revolvers, each with a specific element loaded into the chambers. Her method of distributing the effects however can be a bit distracting to her style of fighting. As mentioned before, Anastasia typically spins the trigger around her fingers, juggles, and tosses her revolvers while on the field, resorting to slamming the hammer of the weapon at times to dispense Dust necessary as if she were a trick shot sharpshooter from a Western. Add to the fact she has a colorguard-esque routine of twirls, tosses, and utilizing her semblance to keep a rhythmic coordination of her casting and Anastasia’s ‘performance’ can become quite an unorthodox method as opposition. Despite the flashy style, disarming her or interrupting her battle flow can keep her Foci out of reach, or disrupt her preparation of Dust based attacks.

Another point of interest is her initial pacifism when it comes to dealing with other humanoids. Either through a personal reason or her systems, Anastasia shows a somewhat stubborn view on dealing with lethal or harmful methods when facing other humans or faunus, out of fear of being responsible for causing injuries. She prefers more non-lethal methods, like hazards to disarm or immobilize others, when facing such engagements, only utilizing more lethal techniques when the subject of Grimm are involved.

Aside from her intention to inflict harm on others, Anastasia’s durable parts and and deceptive weight have been used to her own advantage and disadvantages as well. Close-combat, the ability to utilize a limb in a pitch as a blunt object leaves much for her to fend off someone up close, but puts her at great risk of damaging her systems. Add to the fact she has had no formal close-quarters training leads to her making many mistakes and panic responses when quickly overwhelmed. Her body can absolutely take a beating, being a mixture of cybernetics and her own flesh in places, but leaves her with a very reckless mindset when it comes to tossing her weight around. There is a bit of carelessness when it comes to engagements to protect herself or others, often the one to toss herself in harm's way in the aid of others, especially with the idea that someone will repair her afterward. This often leads to her taking many hits she shouldn’t over longer engagements, often with avoidable damage. On the subject of weight, she is hard force to move in terms of grapples, often punishing those who try by putting her weight into toppling over the other in a reckless takedown.

WEAPON

Name: H&T .45 “Justice” Model - type F

Primary Form: Four revolver-style devices, housing cap-style charges inside the cylinder of the gun. They serve as a rechargeable Foci, built with intimidation or showcasing gunplay for entertainment purposes. The cylinder does not lock, requiring some form of tilting or spinning the containment unit to access the six chambers. The cylinders moving typically creating a soft whirring sound of the lock catching the interiors of the chambers, much like spinning a prize wheel or a slot roll.

The gun may fire either through a pull of a trigger, or for entertainment purposes, with the hammer on the back of the weapon being jammed down to force contact with an open chamber on it’s release. This allows either controlled modes of dispensing ground Dust, or rapid succession of depleting chambered Dust for the latter.

Dust Functions: Primarily a means of carrying Dust in disguise of a handgun, the H&T .45 “Justice” Model ‘type F’ designates its use as an SCF or Caster-assistant weapon for administering a chambered means of holding Dust in the protection of outside forces. Requiring traces amount of Dust for her to cast spells for a type of element, Anastasia utilizes the cap gun style cartridges typically loaded into the cylinders to make sure she doesn’t have too much of the volatile substance exposed to the elements around her, but to also administer pre-measured amounts for her to access for casts and attacks in the rush of battle.

Each handgun is rarely mixed in chamber for her ‘system’ of casting, dedicating one gun to one of four elements: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Anastasia may mix in the field through ‘firing’ the weapons of an element to administer the Dust necessary for the intended spell effect.

History: Haitan-based weaponsmiths Huang and Tao are well known from the Vacuo region, providing many replicants and provisions for ‘old day’ weaponry either for gun enthusiasts looking for an antique piece or a replica of something for a collection.

Recently rebranding themselves in the field, the H&T family names are now a growing name brand for providing Semblance Catalyst Foci systems in either customized, one-of-a-kind ammunitions based on generations of family practices to now administering and transporting Dust for caster-style Hunters, Huntresses, and other ‘enthusiasts’ in the field.

The “Justice” Model-- a popular revolver known for it’s long barrel and ivory crafted handles, has recently undergone a facelift to market them in an experimental transport device intended for the caster market as the “Justice” Model type F.

Anastasia had obtained the weapons from Ibis as originally a way to protect herself in a last resort when fleeing from The Factory with the two female contacts. A secondary insurance if things were to go south with reaching Vale. Since reaching Vale, she continued to maintain and keep the Haitan weaponry, getting used to the chambering systems and administration of Dust in her hopes of becoming a Huntress in the future at Beacon Academy.
