Full House At The White Ibis Hotel

Eudocimus albus
ORDER: PELECANIFORMES
FAMILY: THRESKIORNITHIDAE

Every night at sunset, this tree near my home gets literally bombarded with White Ibises, who select this one tree at a turn in Oyster Creek to roost for the night.

You can see V formations coming from wetlands 360 degrees around as the sun goes down, and it's funny to see an incoming flock of 20 come in for a hot landing and try to find an empty branch in a tree which is already hosting 500 roosting ibises.

Soon it will be breeding season and these monogamous birds will begin to pair up and nest separately, but for now it's one big slumber party!!
